Environmental Project Manager

For more than 40 years, CATLIN Engineers & Scientists has delivered environmental, geotechnical, and drilling solutions across the Southeast. We're growing our MCAS Cherry Point, NC field team, with crews supporting projects in the area.

Location:​

MCAS Cherry Point, NC

100% In-Person Position

Hourly Pay:​

$40-55/hr

based on experience and qualifications

We're seeking a licensed engineer or geologist to manage environmental projects in the MCAS Cherry Point area. This is a management role: you'll steer projects from schedule and budget through technical delivery and client relationships, keeping a skilled field and technical team aligned and on track.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide overall project management and administrative support to keep projects on schedule

  • Deliver technical direction and oversight to the project team

  • Track budgets and schedules and plan personnel and resource needs

  • Maintain documentation supporting monthly progress reports

  • Lead a recurring client call covering technical progress, financial status, open items, and timeline

Required Qualifications:

**Must be a US Citizen with a clean driving record to apply**

  • BA/BS in engineering, geology, or a related science, with 4–7 years of applicable experience

  • NC Professional Engineer or Geologist License (or ability to obtain within one year)

  • Current health and safety training

  • Experience managing full remediation projects, including cost estimating and budget control

  • Track record of scoping and developing site remediation approaches

  • Ability to serve as the on-site technical authority

  • Strength in data analysis and interpretation, supervising hydraulic tests, and drafting technical report sections

  • Experience supervising junior professional and technical staff

  • Able to obtain military base access

Mid-Level Field Technician — Operations & Maintenance

MCAS Cherry Point, NC

100% In-Person Position

Hourly Pay:​

$25-35/hr

based on experience and qualifications

This role is built for a technician who has already logged time in the field and is ready to work with greater independence. You'll take on a larger share of sampling and monitoring work at MCAS Cherry Point, NC, and help set the pace for new crew members.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Install, service, and repair groundwater monitoring equipment

  • Perform soil and groundwater monitoring, well bailing, and related tasks independently

  • Support drilling work for soil borings and monitoring well installation

  • Collect soil and groundwater samples

  • Gauge wells, bail product, and perform groundwater sampling

  • Keep groundwater treatment systems operating smoothly

  • Maintain and service field equipment

  • Document work with detailed, reliable field notes

  • Assist with data entry and report preparation

This is an entry-level, hands-on role for someone ready to break into environmental fieldwork. You'll learn the trade alongside an experienced crew while contributing to active projects in MCAS Cherry Point, NC.

Responsibilities Include:

Driller (Immediate Opening)

CATLIN is seeking an experienced driller to add to our drilling operations in North Carolina and South Carolina. This position involves physical labor working directly with a Wilmington, NC based drill crew performing environmental and geotechnical exploratory drilling.

​

Work will include borehole drilling and/or monitoring well installation and collecting soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis.

​​

Locations:
Home-based mobilization is an option for the right candidate.

Must be self-motivated, hardworking, work well in a team environment, able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs., work in all weather conditions, and able to travel approximately 90% of the time out of town. Overnight travel is routinely required.

​We are looking for an experienced Driller to join our team. If you do not have drilling experience, please see our Driller Apprentice posting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate and maintain drilling equipment in accordance with safety protocols

  • Conduct drilling activities on various job sites 

  • Collect soil and rock samples

  • Record and report daily drilling data

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure project completion within deadlines

  • Maintain drilling equipment and ensure it is in good working condition

  • Always adhere to safety protocols​​

Required Qualifications:

**Must be a US Citizen with a clean driving record to apply**

  • At least 2 years of experience in geotechnical drilling

  • Experience with ATV, trailer, and track-mounted drill rigs

  • Ability to operate drilling equipment and conduct drilling activities with minimal supervision

  • NC Level A Drilling License preferred

  • Experience with SPT drilling by hollow stem and mud rotary drilling techniques

  • Experience with rock coring techniques and core sample collection

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrain

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Class A CDL required (air brake endorsement a plus)

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random tests along with a background check

  • OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER training desired but not necessary
